Getting to Know Your Fitness

March 16th, 2009

Happy health and fitness to you all,

Today, I would like to take steps that empowers you more and more about your fitness.  it’s wonderful to know how to do an exercise; but I believe there is a lot of power that goes into knowing why your body works (or doesn’t work) the way you want it to.

Featured in the FMWR Fitness Blog will be a weekly series that delves into a part of your body.  You can really learn about muscle control, proper hydration, breathing techniques, etc.  All will focus on the part we are learning more about.  This week we are learning about the triceps.  There will be a lecture held on Thursday at 6pm at the Thomas Lee Hall Library.  Their number is 751-5589 if you have direction questions.  This is a one hour lecture well worth your time.  In conjunction with this lecture is my input on how to make that arm better.  Through learning more about that muscle group; I believe you can come to terms with your arms and develop the best arms you possibly can.

Remember that fat likes to store itself on several major parts of the body.  The back of your arm is one of them.  Let me begin with the fact that you can’t just do triceps dips or extentions and remedy the problem.  If you know me; you know I am about to talk about your nutrition habits.  You have to bring fitness and nutrition together if you want to see real changes as a result of your time spent in the gym doing triceps dip, and other back of the arm exercises.

Begin with drinking eight 8oz. glasses of water daily.  Hydration is needed to execute the funtions in your body; so when you are properly hydrated your metabolism is raised and your performance is enhanced.  Your muscles are made up of about 65% water so they need water to do what you are wanting them to do…come to the surface more.  So let’s start by yes, doing exercises that will help your triceps, but also include that daily quota of eight glasses of water to help you make the most of your efforts.

More to come and remember…blog me back

In health,
