Child & Youth Services provides the Fort Jackson Community with quality child development options and youth programs which can help reduce the conflict between parenting responsibilities and duty requirements, enhance the development of children and youth, engage youth in constructive activities during their discretionary time.

Family Child Care

Family Child Care (FCC) offers child care for children 4 weeks to 12 years by trained and certified "Family Child Care Providers" living in on-post government quarters or off post residences.
- Small group setting with a home environment

- Full-day, part-day, before and after school, hourly, and
extended care
|
FCC providers and family members 12 and older must pass the required background checks and are monitored and inspected on a regular basis.
Check the Army FCC Online web site for more information. Visit the Central Enrollment office to access the secure portion of the site for provider information and referrals.
The majority of FCC providers are certified by Baby Signs, Inc., the world's leading sign language program for hearing babies. Learn more at www.babysigns.com.
The FCC program offers employment for military spouses enabling them to earn an income while staying at home.
The next FCC Orientation Training is 18 - 22 Aug 08. Call in advance or visit the office to apply.

The Fort Jackson Youth Center is located on the corner of Imboden Parkway and Chesnut Road. The center serves as the focal point for many youth programs and is one of two Boys & Girls Clubs located on Fort Jackson.
The youth center has been a Boys & Girls Club since November 1999 and is Fort Jackson's Positive Place for Kids. The other Boys & Girls Club on Fort Jackson is the recently opened Middle School After School Program site referred to as the House and is located at 5957 Parker Lane in the housing area.

Available to all military parents of school-aged children regardless of the school students attend.
School Liaison Services provides assistance with:
Issues with school registration and academic credits.
Coordination of transition services.
Information on local school systems, curriculum and school opportunities.
Liaison with Fort Jackson command on educational issues affecting military children.

Scales Avenue Child Development Center is a Department of Defense (DoD) certified and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accredited center. Scales Ave CDC Provides full day and part day care, for infants through kindergarten Monday - Friday for up to 60 hours per week. Care options also available include:

Hood Street Child Development Center is a Department of Defense (DoD) certified and National Association for the Education of Young Child (NAEYC) accredited center providing quality hourly child care for short term (maximum 25 hours per week) child care needs. Advance reservations recommended.

School Age Services Program

The School-Age Services Program bridges the gap between Child Development Services and Youth Services and provides programs for youth in Grades 1 - 5. It takes the worry out of what to do with your child before and after school, during winter and spring school vacations, and during the summer holidays with programs for regular users & open recreation.
- DOD certified and NSACA accredited

- Transportation to and from all three on-post elementary schools

- Programmed activities after school

- Partnerships with MWR activities including Century Lanes Bowling Center, Knight Pool, Fort Jackson Golf Club, and Recycling Learning Center

- Homework center and computer lab as well as a monthly calendar of events for 1st – 5th grade youth

· 4-H Clubs on Wednesday afternoons during the school year |
Occasional users receive 3 free afternoons monthly during the school year and weekend open recreation services as a part of their CYS registration fee. Additional afternoons are available at nominal charges.

Middle School & Teen Program

The Middle School & Teen Program operates out of the Youth Center, In addition, the Middle School After School Program now has its own site at 5957 Parker Lane in housing. As a Boys & Girls Club affiliate and 4-H partner, the MS/Teen Program offers age appropriate activities for youth in 6th through 12th grade.
