Make a Difference in Your Community Volunteer!
For those of you who are not in the paid workforce, there are countless opportunities to become volunteers at Fort Jackson:

  • Extend your network of professional acquaintances
  • Develop creativity
  • Explore new interests
  • Perform a much-needed service for someone in your community


Army Family Team Building [AFTB]“Family Members Helping Family Members”
The purpose of AFTB is to standardize all Army personal and Family Preparedness training programs. AFTB is training for a way of life that prepares everyone in America’s Army to function at one’s highest level, in any situation, with minimal outside support. This training improves personal and family preparedness, which enhances overall Army readiness.

AFTB is a volunteer program that trains volunteer family members to teach other family members about Army life.

 

 

"AFTB …IT’S NOT A PROGRAM: IT’S A WAY OF LIFE"Reimbursement for child care provided by Hood Street Hourly Child Development Center, a Family Child Care Provider or a certified Red Cross babysitter is available for AFTB volunteer instructors and AFTB students.

Installation Volunteer Opportunities

American Red Cross
The American Red Cross offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities at Moncrief Army Community Hospital or in the American Red Cross Station. FREE childcare is available for volunteers.


Cub / Boy Scouts
Volunteer to help boys between the ages of 5-11 in a Cub Scout Program or volunteer to help boys between the ages of 11-18 in a Boy Scout program. Adult volunteers are needed.


Girl Scouts
Volunteer to help girls between the ages of 5-18 in a Girl Scout program. Adult volunteers are needed.


Fort Jackson Schools
“Make a Difference in a Child’s Life – Be a Mentor” Volunteer one day a week for 30 minutes for a minimum of six weeks and make a difference in a child’s life.


Mayors
Mayors are volunteers that reside in a housing area on post that commit at least 10 hours per month to help their housing community. The Mayors Council is very active in all community events and informs neighbors of opportunities within the community. Adult volunteers are needed.


Thrift Shop
Looking for a volunteer opportunity to meet new people? Volunteer for the Fort Jackson Thrift Shop and have instant relationships develop. The Thrift Shop is open on Tuesday and Wednesday, 0930-1400 and the first Saturday of the month. Volunteers are needed. FREE childcare is available for volunteers.


Youth Sports  
Choose your favorite sport and have fun with your child and others. Adult volunteers are needed as coaches and assistant coaches for all sports i.e. basketball, football, soccer, baseball, and
roller hockey etc.
